Brains, beauty, athleticism, coordination, and personality---Leopardy has it all! After obtaining her Championship title for her beauty, she has gone on to another and more open-ended career as a superb representative of the bengal breed, educating the public and showing them how wonderful this breed of cat really is.

Leopardy has won the hearts of thousands of school children at the 2001, 2002, and 2003 University of Tennessee vet school's "Parade of Breeds." She's such a big hit that she keeps getting asked back every year.

Leopardy is now a State-Certified Human Animal Bond in Tennessee (H.A.B.I.T.) volunteer. H.A.B.I.T., which operates through the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine and under the auspices of the State of Tennessee, is a groundbreaking program that sponsors animal visits to nursing homes, assisted-living residences, retirement centers, mental health centers, residences for children with special needs, rehabilitation facilities, hospital settings, and other facilities.

To be suitable for certification as a H.A.B.I.T. animal, an animal must be in tip-top heath and must meet very specific behavoral standards. Very few of the animals in the H.A.B.I.T. program are cats. Our girl is in very high demand.

Also, because of her intelligence, her physical abilities, and the quality of her bond with her person, Leopardy is the type of cat who is easy to train and can excel at agility competitions. Her person is a founding member of the International Cat Agility Tournaments (ICAT) Club, and Leopardy is in agility training and will be competing in tournaments as soon as one comes to a show near enough for us to travel to.

Appearance

Leopardy has a long, strong, typey body and a good head with large, luminous, white-ringed jungle-green eyes. Her most beautiful feature, however, is her satiny coat...extremely clear, short, "tight" enough to show her muscles ripple when she walks, glossy enough to reflect light, randomly spotted with rosettes, and dusted with golden glitter from nose to toes. She is spotted inside and out---even on the roof of her mouth. Even at her age (going on four years) her coat remains crystal clear and her markings have not faded an iota. She does not have a dorsal stripe. Leopardy walks like a wild animal, and when she hunts "prey" (like a felt mouse) her tail fluffs out like a bottle brush and she "grrrrowls" like a wildcat. Having her in the house is like having a piece of the jungle that licks your nose and purrs.

Genetics

Leopardy is a Brown Spotted Tabby (BST) Bengal. On her mother's side she is a F7 from Kabuki ALC, Mirror Mirror line, and also an F7 from Bahgara Khan ALC. Leopardy's pedigree is here. Also, a partial visual pedigree is here. Although she is retired from our breeding program here at PrinceRoyal, Leopardy is a beloved pet and member of the family, and will always stay here with us.

Purrsonality

Leopardy has a wonderfully playful personality. Her favorite game is "fetch," which we didn't teach her... And unlike many cats who fetch, she puts the toy right back in your hand or lap (not on the nearby floor just barely out of reach). She has also learned (and believe me, we DID NOT try to teach her this) to step on the "snooze" button on the clock radio in the morning to turn off that irritating sound so we can all get more sleep...even when some of us have an appointment we have to get to on time!
