Meet our queen with the overall all-around best mix of body, head, and tail: Intricate Detail ("Kate" to her friends). There are more pictures of her in her slideshow.

    Appearance

Up, up the cat tree!Although she is our smallest queen, Kate has a long, sturdy body with a good short tail that bristles out when she's happy.

Her head is excellent, with a straight profile and a solid backskull. Her ears are a nice size, well set, and proportioned correctly. Her eyes are a jungle-sun yellow and contribute to her wild facial expression.

Her coat is soft, rosetted, and covered with amazing silver glitter (some of which looks like ticking under a camera flash). She is lightly ticked, however, which combines with her greeny-yellow eyes to give her a pleasingly wild appearance.

    Wild type.

    Genetics

Kate is a rosetted, silver-glittered, Brown Spotted Tabby (BST) Bengal. She probably does not carry for snow; she definitely carries for marble (having had a marble kitten). On her mother's side Kate is an F6 from Bahgara Khan ALC, and further back on her father's side she is descended from the Centerwall ALC. [You can view these ALCs here.] Her pedigree is here. Also, a partial visual pedigree is here. She invariably stamps her super-good type on each and every one of her kittens.

On May 24, 2004, at the age of 3 years and 10 months, Kate tested normal on an echocardiogram. You can view the report.

    Purrsonality

Our sweetie. Kate comes regularly and demands---demands---her share of cuddling and rubbing. She is extremely vocal and always seems to have lots to tell us about (and in a loud voice too). Her conversation often includes amazingly musical, liquid rills of sound. She can also purr and meow simultaneously.

Kate's great profile. We thought we had athletic bengals until we got Kate, and then she started teaching us just how extremely athletic bengals can be. Her very favorite place is Anywhere Up High...she can leap from a standing start on the floor to to the narrow top of a door without ever once touching the door on the way up. In fact, this is how she starts every morning, with a door-top survey of her domain. With talent like that, short things like the top of the refrigerator and the kitchen cabinets offer no challenge whatsoever. This angel loves to fly!

Kate is also a totally reliable and absolutely excellent mom. She's the best mother we've ever had. Naturally, if we need to foster kittens, Kate is the one who gets them, and raises them beautifully right with her own brood. You can see some of her kittens from previous litters.

Kate on her favorite perch---the top of the door---surveying her domain.
